Melody for Becca Stareyes

Description

Drawn for characterartexchange.com, a secret santa style swap I run. The character belongs to ~beccastareyes

She's an elemental mage, and I wanted to show her practising something that wasn't light or fire. I know the outfit doesn't really gel with the comic timeline, but I preferred this one.

It's been more than two years since my last digitally coloured image, and nearly five since the last that wasn't just a quick doodle/flat colour slapped onto something in a hurry. Just for the record.

wow, has it really been that long since you've done something digital? hehe. Is the lineart also digital? Most of it looks pretty clean, especially around the face, although the table lines look a little wobbly here and there. The way you did the glass looks nice, and you remembered that the glass isn't paper thin and gave a bit of a gap between the water and the outer edge of the glass (I always forget this, oops).

The table looks really flat, maybe adding shadows under the hand or a faint reflection from the glass would help. The character's eyes look really narrow, kind of squinty, although maybe that's the intended effect if manipulating the water takes a lot of concentration
